♻️ WEEE Recycling & Recovery

Compliant treatment of IT electronic waste, with licences you can verify yourself on the public register.

What WEEE means for your business

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations place duties on businesses disposing of electrical equipment. Two in particular catch organisations out:

Our licences — and how to check them

Do not take our word for any of this. Every registration below is on a public register and each links straight to it from our footer:

EA Upper Tier Waste CarrierCBDU622766
T11 WEEE Exempt OperatorEXP/AP3843JV
S2 Waste ExemptionWEX490527
ICO Data Protection RegistrationZC107193

Apply this test to every supplier you consider. Ask for their waste carrier registration number and look it up on the Environment Agency register yourself. It takes under a minute. A supplier who cannot produce a number cannot legally transport your waste, and a supplier reluctant to give you one is telling you something useful.

What the T11 exemption allows

Our T11 exemption permits the repair, refurbishment and dismantling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. In practice that is the licence that lets us do the useful part of the job — opening equipment up, recovering working components and returning them to service — rather than only moving it from one place to another.

Materials recovery

Once refurbishment and parts harvesting are exhausted, remaining material is separated and routed through licensed downstream partners for recovery — ferrous and non-ferrous metals, precious metals from circuit boards, plastics, glass and battery streams, each to an appropriate specialist processor.

Every downstream partner must hold licences and certifications equivalent to or better than ours. That requirement is what makes our zero-landfill position meaningful rather than decorative: a chain is only as compliant as its weakest link.

Batteries and the fire risk nobody mentions

Lithium-ion batteries in laptops, tablets and phones are a genuine fire hazard once damaged, swollen or crushed — and a serious one in a collection vehicle or a storage area. If you have devices with visibly swollen or damaged batteries, flag them when you book. They are handled separately and safely. Please do not stack them at the bottom of a cage under forty other machines.

Frequently asked questions

Are you licensed to carry and treat WEEE?
Yes. We hold Environment Agency Upper Tier Waste Carrier registration CBDU622766, T11 WEEE Exempt Operator status EXP/AP3843JV, and S2 exemption WEX490527. All three are verifiable on the EA public register and linked from our footer.
What does zero to landfill actually mean here?
That IT WEEE we handle does not go to landfill at any stage. Material moves through refurbishment, then parts recovery, then raw material recycling via licensed downstream partners who must hold certifications equivalent to or better than ours.
Am I liable if my IT waste is disposed of improperly?
Potentially, yes. Duty of care requires you to transfer waste only to an authorised person. If waste is mishandled, liability can follow back to the original producer, which is why checking a supplier’s carrier registration matters.
Do you take equipment with swollen or damaged batteries?
Yes, but please flag it when booking. Damaged lithium-ion cells are a real fire risk in transit and storage, so they are segregated and handled separately rather than being packed in with everything else.
What documentation do we get for WEEE compliance?
Waste transfer documentation on every collection, plus environmental and ESG data covering recovery outcomes for your sustainability and compliance reporting.
