Cumbria is our longest scheduled route, and we run it every fortnight. That regularity is the point — it means a Cumbrian collection is a planned stop on an existing journey rather than a 240-mile round trip nobody wants to price.
Cumbria is where most IT disposal suppliers stop returning calls. It is a large, sparsely populated county a long way from the nearest processing facility, and a one-off collection there is genuinely uneconomic — which is why local organisations are so often quoted a substantial minimum load, or simply told no.
We solve that with regularity rather than optimism. Our vehicles run Cumbria on a fortnightly schedule, up the M6 from the M61. Because the journey is happening anyway, your collection fills capacity on a planned route instead of triggering a dedicated trip. It does mean planning matters: tell us a week or two ahead and we will slot you into the next run.
We cover the county broadly — the M6 corridor through Kendal, Penrith and Carlisle, the West Cumbrian coast around Whitehaven and Workington, Barrow and the Furness peninsula, and the Lake District towns between them.

Cumbria's economy is unlike anywhere else we serve. West Cumbria hosts one of the largest concentrations of nuclear expertise in Europe, with an extensive engineering and services supply chain built around it. Barrow-in-Furness is a major defence manufacturing centre. Both sectors bring security requirements far stricter than a typical office collection — site vetting, pre-notification, escorted access and documentation standards that have to withstand scrutiny rather than merely exist.
Away from that, the county's other pillars are tourism and hospitality across the Lake District, agriculture, and a public sector reorganised in 2023 into the Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness unitary authorities. There is also the University of Cumbria and a substantial NHS estate covering a very large geography. Hotels, visitor attractions and hospitality businesses retire booking systems, EPOS terminals and back-office machines — usually in the quieter months, which is exactly when scheduling is easiest.
Three practical points that matter more in Cumbria than anywhere else we cover.
Security requirements come first, not last. If you are in the nuclear or defence supply chain, your disposal supplier's paperwork is part of your own compliance position. Tell us your vetting, pre-notification and escort requirements at enquiry stage rather than at booking — some conditions take time to arrange, and discovering them late means missing a run and waiting another fortnight. Distances inside Cumbria are deceptive. Two sites twenty miles apart on a map can be an hour apart on the road, particularly around the central fells or on the west coast. If you have equipment at more than one location, tell us all of them upfront — we can usually plan a single route that takes in several sites, which is far more efficient than treating each as its own job.
Book against the calendar, not the moment. With a fortnightly run, a collection requested the day after a vehicle returns waits longer than one requested the day before it leaves. If you know a refresh or a clearance is coming, a provisional booking costs nothing and can be moved.
Seasonal note for hospitality: if you are retiring EPOS, booking or back-office systems in a hotel or visitor attraction, the shoulder months either side of the main season are much easier to schedule than August. They are also when our runs have the most spare capacity.
