Huddersfield is eight miles down the A629 from our facility — one of the shortest runs we make, and one where small collections are still perfectly economic.
Huddersfield sits just over the hill from Sowerby Bridge, either straight down the A629 through Elland or round on the M62 to junction 24. It is close enough that we treat Kirklees much like our home district: short lead times, no distance surcharge, and no minimum load that makes a twelve-machine collection not worth booking.

Huddersfield's economy is more industrial than its neighbours', and that shows in what comes through our door from the area. Kirklees retains a serious engineering and advanced manufacturing base — precision engineering, chemicals, textiles machinery and automotive component work — and manufacturers generate a distinctive kind of IT waste: ruggedised shop floor terminals, machine control PCs running long-obsolete Windows versions, handheld scanners, label printers and rack equipment from plant rooms rather than tidy comms cabinets.
Alongside that sit the University of Huddersfield, Kirklees College, Kirklees Council's estate and a large NHS presence through Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The public sector side brings the documentation-heavy end of the work; the manufacturing side brings the awkward, dusty, physically demanding end. We are comfortable with both.
Industrial IT is the part of a decommissioning project that most disposal suppliers quietly hope you will handle yourself. A twenty-year-old PC bolted into a control cabinet, caked in cutting fluid, still running the software that drives a production line, is not a straightforward asset to retire.
Two things matter here. First, that machine almost certainly holds data — process parameters, production records, sometimes network credentials cached from a domain that still exists. It needs the same destruction treatment as an office laptop, not a trip to the scrap bin. Second, the drive interfaces are often ancient: IDE, PATA, SCSI, occasionally something proprietary. We hold the adapters to wipe them properly, and where a drive genuinely cannot be connected to anything we degauss or shred it and document that instead.
