Huddersfield is eight miles down the A629 from our facility — one of the shortest runs we make, and one where small collections are still perfectly economic.
Huddersfield sits just over the hill from Sowerby Bridge, either straight down the A629 through Elland or round on the M62 to junction 24. It is close enough that we treat Kirklees much like our home district: short lead times, no distance surcharge, and no minimum load that makes a twelve-machine collection not worth booking.
We cover the full HD range — the town centre and university quarter, the industrial estates at Leeds Road and St Andrew's Road, and the outlying Colne and Holme Valley communities through Slaithwaite, Marsden, Honley and Holmfirth.

Huddersfield's economy is more industrial than its neighbours', and that shows in what comes through our door from the area. Kirklees retains a serious engineering and advanced manufacturing base — precision engineering, chemicals, textiles machinery and automotive component work — and manufacturers generate a distinctive kind of IT waste: ruggedised shop floor terminals, machine control PCs running long-obsolete Windows versions, handheld scanners, label printers and rack equipment from plant rooms rather than tidy comms cabinets.
Alongside that sit the University of Huddersfield, Kirklees College, Kirklees Council's estate and a large NHS presence through Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The public sector side brings the documentation-heavy end of the work; the manufacturing side brings the awkward, dusty, physically demanding end. We are comfortable with both.
A lot of Kirklees industry still sits where the water was: in mill buildings strung along the Colne and Holme valleys, many of them now split into small industrial units and offices. They are characterful buildings and awkward collection sites — single-track access roads, tight yards, stone staircases and, now and then, a goods hoist older than anyone who works there. Being eight miles away also changes what is sensible. For a handful of machines, dropping them at our Sowerby Bridge facility is often quicker than waiting for a slot — ring ahead and we will have the transfer paperwork ready when you arrive.
